ThriveU 1: I Thrive @ UMD
This introductory class will outline content, set expectations and reveal our process of working together. We will outline the three principles of ThriveU and why we are using a strengths-based approach to leadership. 
 
You must complete this session before enrolling in ThriveU sessions 2-8.
 
ThriveU 2: Understanding Strengths
We will discover and understand our top 5 strengths and how they can help and hinder our work. We will develop strategies to better utilize and develop our strengths.
 
Prerequisite: You should attend sessions in order (1-8).  Session 1 (Introduction) must be completed before enrolling in this session.
ThriveU 3: Strengths-based Leadership
We will examine how to manage our teams using a strength-based approach and how to develop the strengths of those on our teams. We will uncover team strengths and how working from our strengths allows us to be our best.

ThriveU 4: Foundations for Conversations

We will better understand the power of communication and how we can develop strategies that make us more impactful as leaders. We will develop the foundation for having fearless conversations with our colleagues and teams.

Prerequisite: You should attend sessions in order (1-8).  Session 1 (Introduction) must be completed before enrolling in this session.

ThriveU 5: Feedback and Coaching
We will learn best practices of supervisor as a coach and how we can help our team members find their own answers. We will develop strategies for giving and receiving feedback.

ThriveU 6: Appreciation and Recognition
We will understand the importance of embedding thoughtful and meaningful appreciation and recognition in our work. We will leave this session with strategies for feedback and appreciation conversations.

ThriveU 7: Understanding Reactions - Triggers and Sparks
We will develop strategies for managing our reactions and the reactions of those we supervise. We will better understand how our reactions impact others and practice a strategy to help us hear and appreciate all perspectives.
 
Prerequisite: You should attend sessions in order (1-8).  Session 1 (Introduction) must be completed before enrolling in this session.
ThriveU 8: Motivation and Mission
We will work to better understand how our work connects to UMD's core mission and how we can use these connections to motivate the teams we supervise. We will review the content of our 8 sessions together and review our personal and team commitments.
 
Prerequisite: You must complete sessions 1-7 before enrolling in this session.
