The Office of Real Estate, in collaboration with other University divisions and departments, supports the University’s strategic and operational goals through acquisition/disposition and leasing of real property, management of land records, and tracking of local market conditions. Working with the Office of General Counsel and the University System of Maryland, Real Estate staff are responsible for assuring full transactional analysis and completing appropriate due diligence in order to leverage assets for maximum benefit and return.
Major initiatives include public-private and joint venture projects and support for area economic development as well as the revitalization of the adjacent community and its interface with the campus edge.
Office of Real Estate responsibilities include:
- Real property acquisition, disposition, and leasing
Due diligence (financial analyses, studies, title, survey, appraisals, etc.)
Document review and preparation (property agreements, easements, covenants, deeds, legislation, etc.)
- Private development activities requiring University coordination with non-University stakeholders (e.g., residents, developers, and local governments)
