As a whole, the Finance Organization is the principal stakeholder and owner of university financial information systems. The unit manages the university's response to external audits, internal audits, legislative audits, federal audits, and other operational reviews.
The Associate Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer advises the Vice President and other university executives regarding the financial position of the university and compliance matters, including those resulting from both federal and State of Maryland regulations. In addition, the AVP for Finance is responsible for the design and effectiveness of both internal and external financial reporting and related business systems of the university. The the AVP/CFO oversees the Office of the Controller, the Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering, and Financial Operations. These units provide guidance and assistance to members of the campus community, and to all campus departments and units at the University of Maryland.
