UMD FM Employee Honored with USM Board of Regents Staff Award

Luis Alfonzo (FM - Arboretum and Landscape Services) received the 2017-2018 USM Board of Regents Staff Award in the category of Extraordinary Public Service to the University or Greater Community.

Luis Alfonzo, a horticulturist with UMD Arboretum and Landscape Services, was recognized by the University System of Marland Board of Regents with a 2017-2018 Staff Award.  He received an award in the category of Extraordinary Public Service to the University or Greater Community. This award recognizes individuals who have a personal dedication to a project or cause that improved and made a difference in the greater community. It is based on a sustained record of service over a period of years in the individual's role(s) in the University. 

The Board of Regents' USM Staff Awards represents the highest honor bestowed by the Board of Regents for achievements of Exempt and Nonexempt Staff employees within the University System of Maryland. These awards are presented to employees based on the quality of their work. 

Luis is a University of Maryland graduate and has worked as an employee for 20 years.
